Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Trouble with how payments are handled Pennsylvania
I was recently laid off from my job and attempted to see if I could get my student loans from Navient temporarily suspended until I could find work again so that I could continue making payments. Navient told me my only option was to put the loans on forbearance for 3 months and they would have to charge me $150.00 for this service ( completely unacceptable to take advantage of someone this vulnerable! ). I have also attempted to lower my monthly payments of $500.00 with them and come to finally find out that I 'm only on a 5 year term repayment plan ( which I was never informed about ; no wonder I 'm paying $500.00 a month! ) They informed me that in order to lower my monthly payments they would have to extend my terms which would require a credit check ( not sure why that is ) and my co-signer would have to prove she is not able to make the payments either. I 've attempted to remove my co-signer a few times off of my loans as I 'm no longer in contact with them and I 'm - years old and no longer need a co-signer. Navient is extremely difficult to work with and I want my payments temporarily suspended until I can find a job without getting charged for it, I want my monthly payments lowered, and my co-signer removed from my loans without her permission as I 'm - years old, no longer need a co-signer, and I 'm the primary on the account.
