Navy FCU Bank account or service department,
Savings account Account opening, closing, or management District of Columbia
I signed-up for a Navy Federal Credit Union ( NFCU ) savings account using their web form. The ( extensive ) disclosure statement provides NFCU the industry-standard capability to monitor a member 's credit, presumably for specific targeting of services. I receive a credit monitoring notice that NFCU performed a hard '' credit check - the kind normally reserved for applying for loans and credit cards ) and not a soft '' credit check - the kind used by credit monitoring services and targeted marketing ). A representative tells me that NFCU *implicitly* reserves the right to perform whichever kind of credit check they like. I have two problems with this : ( 1 ) I did not apply for credit and ( 2 ) I do not believe that I provided consent for a hard credit pull.
