Iowa Student Loan Student loan can't repay my loan can't decrease my monthly payments October 8, 2016 - I recently came out of bankruptcy and began making payments on my loan for almost a full year. The loan company, Aspire, keeps adjusting my variable interest rate upwards. I have called and spoken with them about my monthly payments and keeping it affordable, as well as paying them off as soon as I can. I have begun paying my loans a little earlier to help with paying it off sooner. However, my interest rate has steadily increase and make it difficult to lower my principal.
