Amex consumers have reported over 47 official complaints related to Fraud or scam. Out of the 47 consumer complaints against Amex, 21% were disputed by the consumer (i.e. the consumer was not happy with how Amex responded to their complaint) and 100% were processed in a timely manner. 30% of consumer complaints against Amex resulted in the consumer receiving monetary compensation (e.g. money, cash reimbursement, etc.) and 17% resulted in non-monetary compensation.

Today, I opened the package and tried to use the gift card for a purchase only to find that the card contained no balance.
