I found - old Cds ( 1993 - ) that I had forgotten about. I tried to cash them out at the bank ( now Wells Fargo ) and was told that they had no record of the CDs. I contacted Wells Fargo and was eventually told that they have no record and I was out of luck. I contacted the MN attorney Generals office. They went back and forth with correspondence on my behalf with the bank. WHEN I WENT TO COLLECT THE CURRENT BANK SAID IT WAS OVER 7 YEARS TOO BAD. THEY DENIED MY CLAIM. Wells Fargo & Company Bank account or service account opening, closing, or management March 2, 2017 - For the -/-/- tax year Wells Fargo bank issued an incorrect IRS Form - stating that my rolled over IRA account was a normal distribution and the entire amount is now taxable. On top of that, they also issued another Form - for the required minimum distribution from that retirement account. The rollover of my IRA account took place inside the bank on the same day. I had closed accounts at Wells Fargo some time before, and so far as I knew, got all my money. The money I got back through this apparently was from Wells Fargo. They had made no effort to contact me about this money, which should have been easy, since I have not moved. I suspect this was money that had been put in - of the bogus accounts and then declared unclaimed. I suggest that there should be some outreach related to this issue so others who have or have had money at Wells Fargo check these list... |

CD 's term was13 months and were automatically renewable. The CD certificates were placed in my safe deposit box in the same bank.
