Credit card False statements or representation Attempted to collect wrong amount New Jersey

There is an account open with Bank of America reporting as a negative item on my credit report since -. It says this account was open in -. My wife and I had another account with Bank of America open in -, therefore we were making payments to every account we had for a few months to attempt to get out of our debt without claiming any bankruptcy. During this time, we researched all of our documentation that we had saved for 10 years and did Not Have a second account with BOA. We have been asking for verification of the signed application showing I opened this account and our requests have been ignored. It is reporting as a major negative on my credit report. I have filed complaints with the credit agencies. We have worked hard to pay - of credit card debt on our own without assistance and want to refinance and starting saving money. This is not possible with this negative account being continually ignored. How can we better ourselves if we ca n't get the creditors to do their part?
