Sallie Mae Student loan department,
Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Don't agree with fees charged Pennsylvania
Sallie Mae made my pay for forbearance up to 12 months for the life of the loan for up 3 months at a time because I could n't afford to pay my loan. Got from article against Navient law suit. In other cases, borrowers who would have qualified for lower-income-based payments under federal law were instead steered to something called " forbearance, '' which allowed them to skip some payments but saw their interest mount up, unnecessarily increasing the total they supposedly owed. The CFPB claims - may have collected - in interest it should n't have from putting people into forbearance, often multiple times.
