Improper use of my credit report Received marketing offer after opted out Virginia
Due to the information listed on the usa.gov/credit-reports page, I believed that I was entitled to a free credit report from Experian.com ; when I attempted to sign up for an account on their site and realized they were trying to charge me money, I actually aborted the sign-up process and did not complete it, but they nevertheless have been charging a monthly fee of - from my credit card for months while providing absolutely no service or information in return. I was never given a score, report, or credit information of any kind, by email, paper mail, or any other means. According to the Experian customer service line, there is a page somewhere on the site that will allow you to get your yearly free credit report, but it is deceptively hidden away in an attempt to bait people to sign-up for the subscription on the front page by mistake. Such an untrustworthy site should not be advertised on a government webpage.
