BB&T Financial Bank account or service department,
Checking account Deposits and withdrawals South Carolina
I am the - for my - year old Mother. In - of 2015 I was - and unable to take care of our finances. My sister-in-law took advantage of the situation and stole my checkbook and credit cards as well as my Mothers. She went so far as to divert my telephone calls to her cell phone and took all the mail from our mailboxes. -/-/2015 I was able to have my phone fixed and began to receive calls from a branch of BB & T in -, SC and we discovered that she had stolen both of our identities and accessed our bank accounts and credit cards. I had never had an overdraft nor had my mother and that is when we discovered the extent of what had taken place. Credit cards were charged to the max and forged checks were paid off of my account as well as my Mothers. BB & T did not close my Mothers account at that time. Only when my sister, who is a banker in Texas, talked with BB & T did the account get closed. The bank did refund a portion of the fraudulent transactions that were committed by -
home for - in - 2015 she went to the bank to ask about the forged checks. The bank refused to honor the forgeries because it was past a 60 day window. My sister contends that when I first reported the identity theft it was the bank 's responsibility to close the accounts and to advise us to go thru our bank statements to look for forged checks. The forged checks on my Mothers account was in excess of $27000.00. I did press charges against my sister-in-law and provided copies of police reports to BB & T. I feel like not only did my sister-in-law take advantage of me but the bank did as well. They were not helpful at all and it appeared to me that they just wanted me to go away. I have since closed my checking account with BB & T and my Mother has also closed her accounts as well. I still have the home equity line of credit loan with BB & T but as soon as I can pay it off in full I will never do business with them again. They are in no ways " consumer '' friendly.
