Call to WELLS FARGO - - 2016 @ - Just was in a phone call with Wells Fargo on my son 's student loan. First the help was not very helpful. I wanted to know if my son 's charge off was taken off my credit report. She said if I am the cosigner, then it will show. I said I got that, and his was cleared off. IF that is the case, then mine should be. She said there were many documents sent to my home, ( and I dispute that accuracy ) explaining the status. Under the contract, he was to be registered as a - - -. He has proof that he was well with any grace period, specifically the dates of registration for his attendance at a - - and upon completion, he is now - - - University. Just to make myself clear, I understand my legal obligation to the debt as a cosigner. I do not agree to the charge off status as he was fulfilling his obligations and can provide proof he was a - - -. The most upsetting part of this phone call was the last part. I told her at this point this whole thing is becoming punitive in nature. She asked me, what would I like to have happen, put the charge off back on his credit? Said yes, do that, but as the cosigner, I do n't have that authority and you will have to deal with his lawyers. Then she said she could n't do that with so I said basically you lied to me and this was a threat to his credit report ( an empty one but proves the nature of the punitive accusation ). At this point, she officially ended the conversation.
