I purchased a vehicle in - -. The vehicle was totaled on - -, -, and the bulk of the loan was paid by - - on - -, -. The remaining balance was covered by GAP insurance, however, the GAP insurance company needed information from the lender to payout the claim. From - to -, I contacted the lender several times in reference to them submitting the requested information for the GAP claim, however, they never responded. Instead, I would receive infrequent calls from their collections department demanding payments. In -, -, I spoke with - in upper management after receiving a collections call and she indicated that she was not sure why the requested information was not sent to the GAP insurance company. She submitted the information to the GAP insurance company and the claim was immediately paid. I received a refund from them for monies paid towards my down payment for the car, and an adjustment of the late payment fees, However, they are reporting and verifying to the credit breau that I was six months late on my payments.
