BB&T Financial Bank account or service department,
Checking account Deposits and withdrawals Pennsylvania
On - -, 2016 I made a deposit to my checking account of -. On - -, 2016 money was swept from my overdraft protection line of credit and a sweep fee ( $12.00 ) was assessed. When I contacted the bank via the customer service phone number - explained that it appears a hold was put on my account and I wanted to understand if the fee would be reversed once the deposit cleared. This question could not be answered and I was told my name was going on a list to be contacted by a manager. Almost two weeks went by and I never heard from them. On - - I contacted my branch ( - office ) and explained that I 'd like to know if my fee can be reversed since my deposit has cleared. I also asked why I was never told a hold was being put on my deposit. She explained that if I flipped my deposit receipt over I would see the hold notice. She also explained that they do not typically reverse these fees since I am made aware of the hold, however, in this case I was n't. I made my
or the following day and a verbal notification would have been provided at the time of deposit if the decision to place a hold was known. I feel that this practice is deceptive to the customer and is increasing BB & T 's fee revenue at our expense. Please note : The front of the deposit receipt looks exactly the same whether there is a notice on the back or not, so there is truly nothing telling you to flip it over and read the notice. Since the branch manager is on vacation I still have not gotten a resolution. I think BB & T should verbally inform their customers of their decision to place a hold or at least tell them to review the hold notice provided on the back of their deposit receipt since the decision to place the hold has already been made at the time of deposit. I do n't believe Reg. CC was meant to increase fee revenue as BB & T appears to be utilizing it.
