Checking account Deposits and withdrawals Virginia

I opened a new checking account with BB & T in -, I closed the account in - of -. During the year in which I had the account, I had direct deposit transactions, debit card transactions and upon closure, I received over $2000.00 from the balance remaining in the account. In -, I had a - direct deposit transactions made by mistake to the closed account. - of the - deposits were returned to the sender, the other, the bank kept to pay off of debt owed from an unrelated account originating in -, which was in a charge off status in -. I have several issues with this transaction - First of all, the bank did not notify me of the fact that they took the deposit to pay off an old balance. I only obtained this information from them verbally after inquiring about the return of the ACH deposit to the sender. I have made numerous calls to the Executive offices of the bank, no one has called me back to talk to me about my situation. They sent me the attached letter detailing the charged off account. This letter does not describe their rights in collecting the funds from the ACH deposit made on the unrelated closed account nor have they have not sent me any transaction records of their taking of the ACH deposit to pay off the said debt. Anytime a bank makes a transaction on your account, they are to notify you, and I have not yet received anything and it is - -, -, for a transaction that occurred on - -, - Secondly - This letter does not indicate that the charged off account is formally closed or settled. Finally, these ACH transactions were made by my college, and were stipends from a - - and - - - loan. It is my understanding that in the state of VA, you are not allowed to " garnish '' those such transactions, and that 's what this actually is.
