I called Wells Fargo on -/-/- to see if I could apply for a forbearance for two loan payments -/-/-. I had a medical hardship as I - and work did not approve my FMLA. I was told it could take up to 10 business days to complete the process. I did not receive any confirmation or denial via email, phone, or paper mail so I followed up on -/-/-. The representative informed me that the processor needed additional information. The additional information needed was provided during the original call on -/-/-. Due to the excessive time it has taken my payments are due and I have had to borrow the money to ensure my payments are made. I have never missed a payment since my loans went into repayment status. I have perfect credit and will maintain my scores in any way I can. I also feel like Wells Fargo is a predatory lender. I requested that Wells Fargo consolidate my loans and they denied my request due to my debt to income ratio. The rates of interest are 4 percent higher than unsecured loans on top of that they are variable rates with no fixed rate options. If the prime rate increases I assure you I will not be the only consumer crippled by this predatory loan structure and lack of willingness to help the consumer.
