I signed up for a Discover card AND bought an iPhone to participate in their - % cashback promotion for in-store - - purchases with the Discover card. After signing up for the card and purchasing the iPhone, Discover changed the terms of the promotion to exclude gift card purchases ( which I was planning to purchase a bunch of, given the holiday season ).
