A request was made through customer service to stop an online payment scheduled from Chase Bank. The payment was stopped and the amount was credited to my account. I had informed the merchant that I am stopping the payment as I had already paid them and the merchant acknowledged the same. However the bank delivered the cheque to the merchant, and Chase customer service did not informed me that the bank will deliver a cheque to them irrespective of stop payment. The merchant submitted the cheque which was bounced and their bank charged them $50.00. I have to pay for it as my bank delivered the cheque. There is a flaw in the chase online payment as they should have informed me that cheque will be delivered and I could have communicated same to the merchant.
