Barclays Credit card department,
Credit line increase/decrease Virginia
Barclaycard has for the - time offered by husband an increase in his credit line, while not offering one to me. We opened the accounts around the same time, carry similar balances, pay roughly the same monthly amounts, on the same day from the same bank account. We live at the same address, have mostly joint accounts, and have credit scores within about - points of each other. Oh yes, and my husband earns $ - per year, while I earn $ -. The only marked difference between our accounts is that his is held my a man and mine a woman. I forgave the first instance of this in 2012 because they called it an oversight and promptly increased my limit above his. When I contacted them this time ( 1-called customer service, 2-sent email, 3-spoke to manager ) I was told I was denied '' my request for an increase and lectured on my poor payment history. When I explained everything I stated above I was told that they do not take gender into account and it must be something else I have done. I am very disappointed and believe this company 's credit line policies should be reviewed at a national level to look for signs of gender bias.
