Paypal sent me a notice that my account was put on hold because a person with a similar name had a negative balance with Paypal. I called and explained that I was not that person and not responsible for this account. Paypal refused to de-link the other account unless I paid the negative balance. I tried to close my Paypal account, but Paypal will not let me do that until I resolve the other person 's past due balance. This is fraud and most certainly illegal under the laws of the United States. I am not responsible for the debts of another, and I am not willing to allow Paypal to keep my account active. I will use other forms of payment from now on.
