Ditech apparently increased my mortgage payment by about $53.00 due to escrow changes. I inadvertently missed that for the -/-/- payment and paid the prior amount ( $1000.00 ) as that is what my automated bank payment had been set up to do. I then sent a second payment for the balance ( $53.00 ). Despite this they claim that they can not process the $1000.00 payment and that I now owe a $44.00 late fee. I 've never been late and this was a simple oversight for a small percent of my monthly payment.
