Citibank Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account South Carolina
CitiCard credit card closes inactive credit card accounts without advance notice, damaging consumers ' credit ratings. My wife and I have been a Citi AAdvantage cardholders for more than five years. Last - CitiCard arbitrarily cancelled my account with no advance notice. I called immediately, and the representative cited account inactivity as the reason. I asked the representative to reactivate my account, but he insisted that I would need to apply for a new card. Worse, the new application would require pulling a credit report. This week CitiGroup did the same thing to my wife, giving the same excuse and requiring her to apply for a new card. CitiGroup 's arbitrary no-notice cancelation practice impairs consumer credit ratings in multiple ways : It increases credit utilization. I had earned a $50000.00 Citi AAdvantage credit line, and my wife $19000.00, so the impact was significant.
Pulling a credit report further depresses a consumer 's credit rating. Over five decades as credit card holders, my wife and I have never missed a payment. We have earned stellar - credit scores. We use auto-pay, so CitiCard incurs no statement printing or mailing costs for our accounts. What does CitiCard gain by terminating and alienating us? CitiCard has our e-mail address, snail-mail address and phone number. Why not contact us before canceling our cards instead of afterward?
