This additional information/dispute is related to CFPB Case number : - : While transunion lowered the balance on the collection account, they did not remove the account from my credit report completely, which is what they should have done. I was a patient at - - in -/-/2016. They filed a claim with my insurance agency and sent me a final bill of over $2000.00 ( see attached ). My insurance company sent me an explanation of benefits statement showing that I only owed $310.00 ( see attached ) to the provider, not $2000.00. I repeatedly contacted the company told them to send me an updated statement ; they never did. So, on my own, I started paying only the $310.00 balance in -/-/2016. I sent my payments to the address on the statement. Every payment came back undeliverable due to a bad address ( see attached - online bill-pay messages ). Meanwhile, the company still refused to send me an updated bill showing that I only owe $310.00, and not the $2000.00 they tried to swindle out of me. In -/-/2016, I was contacted by - regarding this account. I was shocked and I told - the entire story about how the company had never sent me a correct statement, and how I still tried to pay them the $310.00 which I knew I owed, but the payments were returned undeliverable. I told - I had all of the documentation. They told me that I 'd need to talk with a supervisor and that someone would call me ; no one ever called. I finally called them and stated that I was going to call - - again to get this resolved. They informed me that as long as I pay the account by -/-/2016, it would not impact my credit. I was furious at even the suggestion that this would impact my credit. This is a travesty and because of the bogus account hitting my credit report, I 've been unable to purchase my first home.
