Checking account Account opening, closing, or management Georgia
My daughter was allowed to open a checking account as a personal account at the age of -, without a parent or guardian being required a co-account holder. I was with my daughter when the account was opened and i specifically asked if this was permissible and was told by representative that it was. Her account fell negative multiple times and over a period of less than a year had been charged many many Insufficient funds charges / fees. Where as a parent i felt i was not given the notifications i should have been receiving to coach or even intervene on her behalf but was not allowed because she was the only - named for this " - Account ''. I feel - % the representative did not fully disclose information that made these things clear, and i absolutely feel that despite i was present when then account was open that someone should have disclosed to me in writing with my signature that " I her parent '' was relinquishing my rights to represent my child by all definitions " a minor ''. We have since sought services from another banking institution which is where i learned that by our governed law in the state of - she must have someone over the age of - on a checking account with her as a co-account holder. I feel very cheated by BB & T and i am requesting all her funds be returned to her and that any and all reflecting negative marks that would affect her credit history be stricken from this account.
