On -/-/2017 I attempted to pay health insurance premiums online for myself and my daughter. After the transaction was declined I contacted Wells Fargo and discovered that they had arbitrarily set a $2000.00 spending limit on my debit card. The initial representative I spoke with offered to increase my limit to $3000.00. She then informed me that her request was denied by " the system. '' When I asked why I was unable to get access to the money in my account I was told by the Wells Fargo representative that it was for my own protection. My identity had been verified by the representative so I am wondering from whom I am being protected, myself?? I also spoke with a " customer care '' representative named -. She basically repeated the same thing I was told by the first representative. Given that I was facing a deadline for purchasing insurance I was extremely frustrated and asked what recourse I had. I was told I could go into a bank the next day and ask for an increase or give the insurance company my account and routing number. Time was of the essence so going to the bank the next day was not a viable option nor was providing my account information to the insurance company because there was no mechanism to do so. I asked what recourse I have as an unsatisfied customer. I was told I could get a complaint number ( which I did ), that the complaint would be taken into consideration when policy discussions were held, but there was no guarantee that anything would change in the future and no further follow-up would happen unless I followed up myself.
