My wife and I have had an auto loan with ALLY Financial for almost 3 years. I pay this loan payment of $1100.00 through - Bill Pay. One time in the past I sent an extra $1000.00 and ALLY applied it to future payments instead of the principal. When I called them about this they told me I had to send in the payment stub or call them to have to payment applied to the principal amount owed. In -/-/- I sent the payment stub with a check for $3100.00 and indicated on the payment stub and the check to apply $2000.00 to the principal. I just received my next bill and the due date is -/-/- in the amount of $270.00. I called them and was told that it was their policy to apply any extra money sent to future payments.
