I have had a Macy 's credit account for years with no problems, as the attached screenshot of my credit record shows. About a year ago, I made a purchase at one of their stores, one of many purchases I made at the holidays. I did n't receive a bill, but did n't realize it because I 'd done a lot of shopping, and because I deal with a lot of transactions and bills in my position as a business owner. In addition, I depend on receiving bills so that I remember to pay them. Months passed, but I never received a bill, a call or an email from Macy 's, despite all of my contact information being readily available. I had no idea there was any problem. In -/-/2016, I received a somewhat rude call from Citibank telling me that I owed Macy 's money. I had no idea what they were talking about, and they could not or would not give me any information about why they were calling - I actually thought it was a


as my account number was entered. Again, these folks could n't or would n't tell me anything about my supposed bill. A week or two later, I was finally able to get someone at Macy 's to tell me what I bought, where and when - why on earth should obtaining this information have been so difficult?? This person eventually provided me with a mailing address and I sent Macy 's a letter and a check for the entire amount ( less than $100.00 ). Getting to this point took roughly five calls to Macy 's to get someone who a ) was in this country and understood the situation well enough to do something about it ; and b ) would n't send me to back to Collections, even when I asked ( begged ) her not to send me there again, since they could n't or would n't provide me with any details of the transaction. As if this were n't bad enough, when I checked my credit report last week, I saw that this account was reported as delinquent and sent to Collections, which has put a big dent in my credit and caused other companies to charge me more for their services. I feel this is unfair, unwarranted and Macy 's should have to repair the damage : I did NOT receive a bill from Macy 's, and was told that once the account balance owed goes past 30 days, it 's sent to Collections. What??? No email, no call, no late fee and interest added to next month 's bill?? Then nine months later, I get a rude call without any information I can use to figure out what happened?? And now my credit is damaged and other bills are going up because of it?? That 's not okay.
