I have a Macy 's American Express credit card that has never been activated as the sticker is still on the card. My wife was shopping early this year at Macy 's and the clerk was able to charge a $13.00 dollar dress on that card by using my ssn. In -, I noticed my - score dropped from - to - from another credit card company which shows my score online and tells me the reasons of dropping was due to a serious delinquent account. I requested a credit report immediately and found the Macy 's card was delinquent with over $70.00 unpaid balance. I called the Macy 's credit department and found my account was enrolled in a paperless statement program which I did not authorized. I explained that I never received any statements and communication about my pass due status and as a result of not having any notifications the initial $13.00 became $70.00 due to - late fees and finance charges. The staff on the call was nice and explained the there was a system upgrade and that may have resulted not sending appropriate statements or notices and he waived all late fees. I then paid
It never happened. I just checked today and there was no removal of that serious delinquent status from the credit bureau. The card was never activated and a charge was put on by a store clerk. There was not statements sent afterwards and I was put into the paperless program without my consent. My credit score should not be negatively impacted by the errors I did not make. The $13.00 dollar dress now has caused my score decline from excellent status - - - to fair status ( - ). I was trying to refinance my mortgage and could not get a good rate because of errors made by Macy 's. I request Macy 's to remove the negative info from all reporting credit bureaus and restore my credit rating.
