Hello, I recently noticed my BB & T Spectrum rewards credit card was no longer working despite having available credit. I reached out to BB & T ( they did not make any effort to call me before placing a block on my card which I use every day ) to see what the problem was. I spoke with someone in Risk Management who informed me my account was under " investigation '' due to my high spending. The card was in good standing with no late payments. A few days after that, with no further contact from BB & T, my credit card was removed from my online account and I now assume it to be closed completely. I support BB & T 's right to close my account, but as of now the rewards that I had earned on the card are not available to be redeemed. It is clear to me that the primary reason they closed my account was due to me earning too many rewards. However, all of my earnings were in accordance with the terms and conditions ( see here - ).

Please allow up to ninety ( 90 ) days after the Anniversary Date for the anniversary bonus rewards to be applied to Member 's rewards balance. As you see above, there is a - % anniversary bonus on rewards after reaching the threshold of $50000.00 spending. Since I reached this threshold and then was closed, BB & T is preventing me from reaching my anniversary, where under their terms I would be rewarded the - % bonus. What is stopping them from just closing all cardholders at 9 or 10 months so no one is able to receive the bonus? BB & T has effectively made a credit card product that encourages higher than normal spending levels, but then punishes consumers by closing accounts no questions asked prior to being able to receive the bonus for reaching said spending levels.
