Citibank Credit card department,
For about 50 years, I had a credit card with Macy 's. For the past 20 years, at least, I rarely used it. Occasionally, there would be a discount available on a purchase with the use of the card, and I would use it then. Since I used it so rarely, I usually had to update the account with the cashier at the time of purchase. Each time, I continued to have the same card, same number, and same name on it. In -/-/2016 I made a purchase, using my Macy 's card, was told I had to update it, and did. This update was a bit more complicated, and I was issued a new card with a new number and in a variation of my name - from - ( husband 's name ) to my name. I received the bill for that purchase, which was due in mid - and paid it on time.
that for at least 40 years I have used my other credit cards extensively each month and pay them on time and in full. Besides being old ( - ) I 'm old fashioned that way! In late - I received a phone call from Macy 's saying that my - bill had n't been paid. I explained that I had n't received a bill and was told that I owed $75.00. I was surprised and believed that if I could speak with a superior, I could explain the error. After asking repeatedly for someone who could help me rather than someone who was trained to parrot over and over, " That 's our policy, '' I said that when I received a bill, I would pay it since I did n't know the exact amount of my purchase, but that I would n't pay a fee. In - I received a Macy 's bill for $75.00 - my purchase of $48.00 plus a fee of $29.00. I immediately paid the $48.00 of my purchase. Shortly afterward, before the next billing period, I received a robocall from Macy 's with instructions to call a certain number and give them a number to access an " important message about my account. '' I naively believed that the message would be that everything was settled so I followed the directions, was on hold for 15 minutes and then disconnected. I never spoke to a human being. Since then, I have received two more statements - - and - - and my bill is now up to $100.00. Macy 's robocalls me at least once, sometimes twice a day. I 've ignored the calls.
