On -/-/2016 Capital Accounts reported an invalid debt to the - major credit bureaus on my behalf. I immediately sent Capital Accounts a letter requesting validation of which they received -/-/-. I then waited 30 days and sent a follow up letter requesting validation again, of which they received -/-/-. As I had not heard back from Capital Accounts, I filed a dispute with -, - and - as I 'd never done business with Capital Accounts and did not owe the alleged debt. On -/-/-, Capital Accounts verified the account as accurate with the -. 48 hours later, I received a message from another credit card lender that due to the recent changes on my account caused by the collection Capital Accounts reported on my behalf, they lowered credit line - % causing my credit utilization to rise to - % and tanked my credit scores tremendously. Due to the invalid debt, I 've been denied additional lines of credit and an opportunity to lower my current interest rates. Capital Accounts has violated FDCPA regulations : 1692 e ( 8 ) Threatens or communicates false credit information, including the failure to communicate that a debt is disputed and 1692 g ( B ) Collector must cease collection efforts until debt is validated
