Checking account Problems caused by my funds being low Illinois
I went on line recently with USBank so that I could view my statements. I have never reviewed my statements in the past. I noticed there was an auto withdraw monthly of approximately $50.00 for auto payment to reserve line. When I asked for explanation at the branch, I was told that it was a charge for insufficient funds. They researched back for 7 years and were unable to demo- strate what generated the original charge. they showed no bounced checks in 7 years. When I asked for proof of this occurance, I was told that they did not have to provide this proof of burden. I wanted to know what my recourse is. I want to know when this infraction occurred. If they are unable to prove the infraction is there a way that I can re-coupe the payments that I have made in the last 7 years? They also say that I still have a balance of approximately $1800.00. They can not tell me when or in what amount there was a bounced check - how do I know that it was not a bank error. I opened the account in 2006 and at that time there was a reserve line opened which I obviously did not understand how that overdraft protection worked. I just want to know if they are obligated to demonstrate what generated the original charge and if so and they are unable to do so, what do I have to do to pursue re-imbursement?
