As I understand this issue, a student loan account was opened in 2004 for my continuance of education. During this time I had repeatedly tried to resolve the debt through settlement, however, CitiBank did not accept any terms and turned the matter over to a collection agency. The collection firm hired did not follow fair debt collection practices and was forced to remove the charge. CitiBank has now taken this matter a step further and not only have it showing on my credit as a closed/charge off account, but additionally a LATE payment since at some point they have assessed an $8.00 charge to continue keeping this 10 year old debt matter active on my credit.
