Other bank product/service Account opening, closing, or management Washington
I put money into a money market fund with Bank of the West as part of a relocation from - -, - to -, -. I opened a Money Market account to stash the money I had leftover from the move in an interest bearing account that I would n't have to manage or worry about. I had to withdraw an amount that I did n't realize put me below their minimum balance. At the time I had apprx. $850.00 in the account. I went years without checking it until I got a notification saying it was overdrawn. I contacted the bank to inform them of their error and found out at that time that they had been charging me $ -/mo for being below their minimum balance, which had resulted in them confiscating every penny of the money I had in that account. They told me it was my fault for not checking my account. I trusted Bank of the West with my money. By not phoning me or making any good faith efforts to inform me of my financial position, they failed to live up to the trust I put in them. If they were worthy of that trust, they would 've transferred that money into my checking account. Instead, they stole it. I think they owe it to me to refund every penny. I 'm sure I 'm not the only one who has been ripped off in this manner.
