A month ago my husband - - and I became victims of an outrageous scam. It all started with a phone call from someone who introduced himself as an " IRS agent ''. He said we had some outstanding tax charges ( we did not! ) and he was very aggressive on the phone. He gave my husband a really hard time basically saying that if we do n't pay immediately, my husband will be arrested. All of this continued for 2 days while those " agents '' kept my husband on the line non-stop, not giving him a chance to think clearly. He was drawn into a state of causeless fear, and so did I. We withdrew our savings, used credit cards and borrowed from other people. It was a disaster. All of the money was sent via - gift cards. We filed a police report at our local police station, but the police officer told us it will be really hard to recover anything of what we 've lost. One of the credit cards my husband was tricked by those criminals into using was his Discover credit card that literally had - outstanding balance before that scam happened. And then in a single day it got maxed out, thanks to those crooks. We are both devastated. There is an official police report that proves that it got maxed out because of the scam. It was due to a CRIMINAL ACTION. We DID NOT spend that money on life 's pleasures. My husband talked to Discover customer service reps a couple times and they keep saying it is our responsibility now to pay out the card. Really??? Please help us resolve this. We feel hopeless and the whole situation is very depressing.
