Credit monitoring or identity protection Account terms and changes California
Several months back I went to Experian to get a copy of my credit report for my husband myself, using - of my credit cards. Over the last 9 months Experian has been charging my card for a monthly membership fee that I was unaware of in the amount of $43.00 a month. They automatically enrolled me and my husband in a monthly membership without my knowledge or consent. The only reason I did n't discover it until recently is because I put that card away and was trying to pay it off. When I realized the balance was going up instead of decreasing, I checked my online statements and realized what Experian had been doing. When I called to dispute it. They said that it was an automatic enrollment and I was out of luck. I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to cancel it getting my credit card company involved to assist me. They 've charged my card $350.00 over the last nine months. I was so upset that they would do something so underhanded. I had no idea that they automatically enrolled me in a monthly membership. Saddest part is I thought they were supposed to protect the consumer not take advantage.
