I have a private student loan through Wells Fargo. I got behind on payments, but I knew I was starting - school soon so I was looking forward to receiving a forbearance to postpone payments until I graduated. I started graduate school on - -. I informed Wells Fargo of this on - - because I knew my student loan was schedule to default on - -. Wells Fargo said I did n't appear on the -, so I needed to get my school to fax Wells Fargo a document verifying that I was a student. I gave my school this form that same day, - -. - - was a Friday and my loan was scheduled to default on Sunday, - -. Wells Fargo claims they did not receive verification from my school until - -, so my loan defaulted and Wells Fargo is now asking for the entire balance paid in full. I believe my loan should not have defaulted because I was in school at the time, which Wells Fargo knew.
