Closing/Cancelling account Missouri
on -/-/- I paid - the balance on my Discover credit card. on -/-/- I had an email conversation with a Discover rep, requesting that my account be closed. The rep indicated at that time that she had closed the account. Unfortunately, I forgot to cancel a recurring payment at my online bank, so a payment of $200.00 was made, then the next day I got an email from Discover about an increase to my credit line. I just logged into their website to see that I have a balance of $ - ... they deducted $40.00 from my payment for interest charges - on an account that I had requested be closed, after paying it down to a $0.00 balance. The rep who told me the account was closed on -/-/- made absolutely no mention that further charges would be applied to the account. I opened a chat with another Discover rep to request that, since my account was supposed to have previously been closed, my $200.00 be refunded to me and the account closed. She did close the account, but is only refunding the $150.00. I feel that the entire $200.00 should be refunded, as the account closure mistake was theirs, not mine. I have an email dated -/-/- from a Discover rep confirming that she had closed my account.
