I have had a Best Buy credit card since - - and have always had an excellent payment history. Over the years, I have spent - dollars at Best Buy. In - -, I paid off my balance of $10000.00. In - -, - - renewed a protection plan for a computer we no longer have and that I was unaware was being charged. Since my Best Buy account was paid off, I had n't received a statement in months, and had in the meantime changed my email. So I was not receiving notices sent to the old email. We received automated calls from Citi, but as there was never a person on the line, we assumed they were another sales call. I did n't become aware of these charges until Apr - when checking my credit report. By this time, with several months of late fees added, my balance was $170.00! I was sure that having been an excellent long-time customer of Best Buy, I would have no problem having these
was extremely unhelpful. Despite repeated requests, she refused to let me speak to a manager or anyone else who might be able to authorize having these charges reversed. Even though I was upset with the way I had been treated, I decided to go ahead and pay the charges so as to keep my Best Buy account as well as to protect my credit rating. Within a day or so when I was able to go online to make a payment, I found that my account had been closed. I was never informed that this was happening. I have enclosed attachments showing the statements in regard to the above figures. I have been an excellent Best Buy customer for years and am very upset and shocked at the unfair treatment I received from Best Buy. It is unbelievable to me that they would be willing to lose such a good customer over $32.00! This has had a very negative impact on my credit rating. I am hoping that you will review the circumstances surrounding this incident as well as my previous record with Best Buy. I am hoping, at the very least, to have this record removed from my credit report. Thank you.
