Closing/Cancelling account Maryland
On -/-/2016 contacted HSBC Bank to register Credit Card for online access to pay bills. Was advised they could n't do it and to call a different number. I had them transfer me and was advised that the account had been closed and that I was classified as " deceased ''. They told me I had to go into a branch location with ID to verify identity. I went to the HSBC Branch In -, MD @ - - - -, -, MD -. They took photocopies of my ID 's and said that there was nothing they could do at the present time and had to be worked on in house. They said someone at HSBC made an error but gave no time table or additional info regarding resolution. The personal I was dealing with at the bank said, " we are waiting for a copy of the death certificate. '' They did not provide any details as to why I was identified as deceased said I could not pay my bill over the phone or online because it 's currently in collections.
