My mortgage is serviced by : PennyMac -. - - - -, CA - I have made on-time monthly payments for the entire term of the loan, including payments for additional equity reduction. PennyMac has incorrectly applied my payments every month, often by applying the additional payment to the following month 's payment ( more than a month before the payment is due ). For the last five months, I have had to call them every month to get them to correct errors in how my payments were applied. PennyMac 's incompetence has hit a new high this week when they sent me a letter stating that my payment was more than 30 days overdue and that my loan was in default. I have sent them an e-mail alerting them to their error assuming that will start the reconciliation process. At this time, I do not know if they have reported this false information to credit agencies. PennyMac 's practices should be investigated.
