Navy FCU Credit card department,
Unsolicited issuance of credit card California
My husband and I have had the same ( nRewards VISA ) joint credit card account with NFCU for over 20 yrs ( expiration date -/-/- ). -/-/-, he received a notice by mail from NFCU 's VP of credit cards ( - - ), saying that he had been selected for an automatic upgrade to a " VISA Signature Go Rewards Card '', and to expect it soon, in the mail. Two days later ( -/-/- ), we received the new cards ( also with the expiration date of -/-/- ) - The account number under his name was still the same, as our current VISA. But the card issued in my name held an entirely new account number. Is it legal to reissue a new set of cards when we did n't ask/apply for them? The 'upgrade ' seemingly changes us from a joint account, into - separate ones ... and the APR terms are slightly different from our current VISA. We received mailed paperwork applications for this new card in the prior months, but we declined the offers. This seems like fraud to me, even though it 's being issued from within our credit union. This should never have happened.
