Discover Credit card department,
Identity theft / Fraud / Embezzlement Florida
My step father opened accounts fraudulently under my name. I was in the process of studying for - to become an - and not aware he was doing such things. Once it was brought to my attention he indicated that he did open it only to help establish credit under my name. Unfortunately with all the stress and studying for - I did not address this sooner. Once I passed - and was able to work on other things I was reminded that he opened the account and that he was n't going to make payments. I did not make any charges, nor did I authorize this account to be opened and when I tired to explain this to Discover but they stated it did not matter I was still responsible for the payments because the account was brought to my attention sooner. It was my step father who helped raise me from an infant that opened this account fraudulently and since I was consumed with studying I was not aware of the details.
a fraudulent account. Bottom line : This was not opened with my consent, I did not under any circumstance use the credit line in any shape or form and this needs to be closed and done with. I am sending a copy of the policy report because Discover did not want to see it. Please help me resolve this, I should not have to go through this because someone opened accounts under my name without my knowledge or consent.
