Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Trouble with how payments are handled New York
My online account access with American Education Services ( AES ) was blocked due to - returned payments within 12months. It was recommended to me to set up an automatic bill payment through my bank, but I could not do that until my account/loans were paid up-to-date. I was told I could not make a payment over the phone for that payment because my account was not up-to-date, so I needed to mail a payment in, but that I could make payments over the phone after the initial mail-in payment bringing the account current. I mailed in the payment and planned on paying over the phone the next month, as I was told I could do. The following month, I called to pay over the phone and was again told I had to pay by mail, even though I was advised I could start making telephone payments. The payment was then late because they refused to accept a payment over the phone.
