Closing/Cancelling account Nevada

My son was an authorized user on my Discover account. He went to the store to use the card where he often shops, and when the card was swiped, the code came up " Call Authorities. '' Fortunately, the cashier knew him enough and did not call the authorities. I contacted Discover and they told me that they had requested the authorized user 's SSN and DOB by email or mail, and when they did not receive the information they removed him from the account. I understand this part due to the Patriot Act. However, I have gone through all my emails and paper mail and I received no such request. I also did not receive any notification that my son was removed from the account. What I am furious about is that the code sent to the merchant at the time said to " Call Authorities, '' scaring the - out of my - year old son, and making him look like he did something wrong. When I contacted Discover, the agent was very helpful, but also agreed that the code sent to the merchant should have just been a decline. I am not sure if they are having system issues with this type of decline or what, but I am so furious about this. I can not imagine what it would have been like if he had been somewhere they did n't know him and actually called the authorities, as directed by Discover. He visits - and -, and this is the card that I send for emergencies too! What would have happened? I am now requesting compensation for this bad bad error. I would like an account credit for no less than $500.00. I do n't even think that 's enough.
