When buying furniture for our new house, we got a nice 60 month no-interest loan with Wells Fargo through the store. After setting up automatic payments, which for some reason took months to start, a representative told me that it was set to pay the full amount of the loan instead of the monthly balance so we cancelled it and I set up a new automatic payment for the monthly balance instead. The next month, after making manual payments the whole time, I called in to check if the automatic payments were in place. The representative told me they would start the following month. Because I had spent HOURS on the phone with Wells Fargo, I asked, " So if I make - final manual payment, I will never have to worry about it again? '' The representative assured me that was the case. Two months later. My manual payment took care of the month in between but when I logged in to see how it was going I was charged a $25.00 late fee because the automatic payment was STILL not in place. It was unbelievable! A Wells Fargo representative assured me this would not happen. I called in, escalated the call, and the manager did not care. He told me it was my responsibility to ensure payments were being made and that he would not refund the fee. Knowing that troubles like this would continue, I just paid off the loan. It set back some financial plans I had over half a year, but I knew I did not want to maintain that kind of relationship with Wells Fargo.
