I had a Discover credit card that was charged off -/-/-. I received a letter dated -/-/- from the IRS saying I owe taxes on this credit card that was supposedly a - Cancellation of Debt '' from -/-/-. I now am having to fight the IRS on a problem that is way beyond what I have read to be the statutue of limitations on a debt. I did not ever receive a - from Discover Card, so I would have no way of knowing to put that on my taxes even if it was not too old.
