When I signed up for my checking account with Chase, I specifically opted out of overdraft protection as I did not want to incur any overdraft fees. I specifically asked when I signed up to make sure that charges would not go through if I did not have the funds in the account. After I signed up for my account, I learned about " insufficient funds '' fees and how those are different than " overdraft fees ''. If you pay some of your monthly bills automatically, but if you do n't have the funds in your account, the bill payment will still go through, and Chase charges you the " insufficient funds '' fee of $34.00 per occurrence regardless of the amount you over drafted your account.

Furthermore, I honestly believe Chase 's practice of clearing pending charges at - at night and then having any direct deposit come in shortly after - is an Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Act or Practice. There have been times where I have had a charge go through at -, incurred insufficient fund fees, and then have a paycheck be deposited at -. In the span of 3 minutes, I have incurred $100.00 in insufficient funds fees and then have hundreds of dollars deposited din my account.
