I currently have a loan with Springleaf Financial, in good standing. No late payments, no problems whatsoever. I applied online for another loan with Springleaf, for $10000.00. I received an email stating that I had been approved, but for a reduced amount ( $7500.00 ). The email instructed me to call in order to complete the process. I called and answered numerous questions about employment and income. Everything went fine, until I mentioned that I already have a - loan in good standing. I was immediately placed on hold, then the Springleaf representative came back on the line and mumbled something to the effect of " I 'm concerned about risk. '' I waited for him to say something else, but about a minute of silence passed. No wonder - he had disconnected the call. Having pre-approved me for a loan, Springleaf was apparently incapable of determining that I am already a customer - even though I provide my name, address, SSN, etc. ( and they did pull a credit report ). When I disclosed that I 'm a customer in good standing, their response was to disconnect the call and to refuse to continue processing my loan - even though they had pulled a credit report and pre-approved the loan.
