I opened a PayPal account -/-/- for an eBay purchase and have only used my PayPal account sparingly since then, never experiencing any issues until this -/-/-. -/-/- I sent $100.00 to a friend using PayPal ( no different than I had ever done in the past ) and I assumed the payment went through because there was no reason to think otherwise. To my dismay, -/-/-/-/-/-, I received a call from a collection agency saying that I owed money on my PayPal account. Specifically, I was told that I did not pay back my PayPal line of credit, so in addition to the $100.00 payment and $3.00 PayPal convenience free, I also owed a $25.00 late fee. I was upset because I never established a PayPal line of credit, and assumed that my PayPal account was linked to my credit card and/or bank account as it was in the past. This felt sneaky to me, especially since I had to pay a convenience fee to use the service, only to get burned with late fees later on.
