Wells Fargo Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing New Jersey
- - - in - NJ offered 0 percent financing through a Wells Fargo Credit Card. While I offered to pay cash the store suggested I take advantage of the 0 percent financing. We charged approximately $1900.00 for the furniture to the new Wells Fargo account. We paid double the monthly payment for about a year and owed $200.00 on the account on the 1 year anniversary of the charge. When our statement came in the balance was $610.00. A $410.00 interest charge was added because the account was not paid off completely in the first year. I immediately paid off the $200.00 balance and contacted Wells Fargo. They would not remove any of the interest even though the account was paid in full within 15 days of the 1 year anniversary of the charge. I can not imagine how this could be a legal business practice. We were never made aware of what would happen after one year, and if we were, we would have never opened the account. We could have just as easily paid cash. I feel as if I have be mugged by someone on the street and my wallet stolen. Why is this practice allowed?
