Synchrony Bank Credit card department,
Sale of account North Carolina
I opened a Care Credit card account in - 2015 with an online application to match with my pet insurance. We visited the vet and had a $110.00 bill, which I was told my insurance would cover a portion, and that Care Credit would handle the rest. I never received a single bill, statement, my card, phone call or anything from Care Credit during the following months. In - 2015, I received a notice from a collection agency stating that they had " bought my account '' and were attempting to collect around $500.00. Apparently, when they opened my credit file, the charged about $100.00 to the account from the vet visit/bill, and every month thereafter would add an additional $85.00 ( approx ) to my bill for late fees, then at the 5-6 month mark sold it off to a collection company. I tried to call them and resolve the issues, but the management and supervisors at the place tell me there 's nothing they can do, because it 's already been sold. They also claim they sent out bills to me each month, but there 's no way to verify that
This entire thing stinks -. How can a small bill for $100.00 jump to just under $500.00 in less than 4 or 5 months, then in turn sell it off as if it were a legitimate debt? Since my insurance did n't pay for any of the vet bill, I offered to pay them the original amount of what I owed them in -, but they refused. I 'm not sure what I can do - but I absolutely do not think I 've done anything wrong here and I refuse to deal with a collection agency that has no legitimate claim to my bill, the total they 're saying I now owe, and if I do deal with them it will continue to show as a charge off on my credit. And, that I admitted to doing something wrong and that I paid off the collection account. SYNCB/CARE CREDITC/O - - -, FL - # : -
